Fawley Riding Club Show 27/07/08

August 5th, 2008

So after my night out exploring the farm with my friend mum turns up early to take me to a show. This time Mum tells me we’re off to Fawley Riding Club show in Hythe.

I was a little tired this morning so couldnt really be bothered to go in the horse box but knew I wasnt going to get away with it so I decided I should really do in and not be naughty. Anyway my best friend Sparky was already in the box so I wanted to see him really and find out what he had been up to over the last month.

Sparky and I had a lovely chat on the way to the show and I showed him some new dance moves I had learned whilst we trundeled along in the box.

It was such a nice day and I decided to be on my best behaviour for mummy as I think my exploring the night before had worried her a bit.

Anyway….. to cut a long story short our results were;

Best turned out - 6th place + Forest Bred Rosette

Best youngstock - 4th place + Forest Bred Rosette

Pony Judge would most like to take home - 4th Place

Best Driving Type - 2nd Place

Prettiest Mare - 1st Place

Overall Points winner for afternoon = Champion Rosette and £10 Norris & Sons Voucher

The Great Escape 27/07/08

August 4th, 2008

So Mum turned up this morning to find me in a different paddock to the one she put me to bed in……. I knew I would be in trouble as we were off to a show and she didnt know what had happened! My field companion and I have managed to discover how to unhook the latch on our gate and had spent the night exploring round the farm untill we were ushered back into a paddock at 4am.

Mum was very confused as she knew she had shut the gate but I think other people thought that she hadnt so I felt a bit guilty……. so the next day my field friend and I had a little chat and thought we would have another go at opening the gate.

And yes we managed it another couple of times and Mum was found ‘not guilty’ :-)

Unfortunately now the gate has now been electrified and bike locked so no more exploring for us!

My First Tooth 17/07/08

August 4th, 2008

I’ve been feeling a bit funny lately as i’ve had lots of strange feelings in my mouth. This had made me feel a bit unhappy so I think mummy as been getting a bit annoyed with me. I think she could tell that I was not happy so she got the nice dentist to check me who said I was teething and that I still had about 10 teeth to loose.

The dentist was right (of course) and a couple of days later mummy found one of my teeth in my paddock!

My Family

July 25th, 2008

Just a short note tonight as my hooves are tired but just wanted to let you all know that mummy added me to my family tree on www.allbreedpedigree.com tonight. There is even a photo of my Daddy on there….it’s so exciting!

Another attempt at Long Reining!

July 8th, 2008

So mummy decided to give me another go at long reining. She got Daddy to walk alongside me as I like having his company to reassure me when mum makes me walk out in front by myself. I kind of know that she is behind me but it’s still a little scary and confusing.

I think I did well as I got lots of strokes and we even got to have a trot around the field all together .

I’ll try my best to be even better next time and not eat so much grass.

29/06/08 - Cadnam Show

July 6th, 2008

Today Mummy took me to the Cadnam Show in the New Forest where we had a lovely day. It was really hot and Sunny which made me feel a bit sleepy but she gave me lots of breaks with hay and water so I was quite happy. The only annoying thing were the nasty flies that kept biting me but mum tried helped me to keep them away.

I saw lots other ponies that looked a little bit like me so I had a chat with a few of them to find out what they did and where they came from. Mummy said we would be going to Cadnam again soon so i’ll probably make some good new friends there.

We also had a nice surprise when Mummy’s Mum and Dad turned up to help and took lots of photos of me, I felt like I must me famous.

The judges seemed to like me so I came home with lots of pretty ribbons in all sorts of colours; I cant wait to go out and play again.

My First Saddle

June 25th, 2008

Well today mummy put me in to a stable where there was some nice yummy hay. Daddy came in and had a little chat with me and gave me a bit of a brush.

Mum put one of those saddle things over the door and came into the stable. Dad put the rope onto my head collar and held the end of it while I continued to munch on the yummy hay. Mum put the saddle on my back and put something around my tummy which she slowly did up tighter and tighter. It didnt really bother me though as the hay was so nice.

Mum decided to take me into the sand school where we had a bit of a walk and trot around. I think she was trying to see what I thought of the saddle on my back, but to be completely honest it really didnt bother me. I think she must have been really pleased with me as she gave me a big cuddle .

Long Reining - “No chance mum!”

June 18th, 2008

So after another nice quite sunny day in my field mum turns up looking like she means business! She marches me into the school which is full of coloured poles and starts putting on that thing that does up around my belly and long black reins to my sides.

I wasnt really in the mood for listening today as the nice green grass around the edge of the school just looked so very tasty but mum wasnt too pleased when I kept wandering over to have a nibble. I did try and concentrate for a while but I just couldnt.

After a while mum realised I wasnt in the mood so I stood nice and quietly whilst she took the stuff off me and then we played in the school for a little while which was much more fun. I like to play a game where I run around the school really fast untill I get really close to something then jump on my back legs and go the other way, then mum joins in to and it’s great fun…… much more fun that long reining! hehehe!

26/04/08 – New Forest Pony Enthusiasts Show

June 14th, 2008

Early morning

Mum was here really early this morning; didn’t complain mind as it meant breakfast….yum yum yum!

It looked like she was in a rush and threw my pretty green rug on that she only puts on me when we’re off in the big box with wheels. Ohhh and there it was just coming in the gate…. and OH OH it smells like my little friend Sparky is on board!

Off we go

Yep…we were definitely off somewhere as I saw Daddy putting my hay net in the box and mum is walking me towards the ramp. I like going in the box; my favourite thing is to bang the sides all the way with my hoofs and it makes great noises that Sparky loves to listen to.

And then we were off….’bang bang’ off we go … ‘.bang…. bang…. bang’.

At the Show

When we stopped I heard mum’s voice outside and waited for my nice carrot that I always get when I’ve been a good girl in my box.

I saw lots and lots of other horses and ponies, little boxes and really really big boxes and loud voices coming from big metal cones in the air.

I got a nice brush and sprayed with funny smelly stuff that I’m not really keen on but mum seems to like it, then she got changed into her smart clothes and off we went to play with other ponies.

We went into a ring with lots of other ponies that looked a bit like me and had a bit of a trot ….. although mum couldn’t keep up with me. I just wanted to show the boys my best moves.

Anyway after I had done by best to look beautiful we were all put in a line, mummy was told that I needed to loose a bit more of my fluff that keeps my tummy warm and that I would look much smarter. I like my fluff; it keeps me warm when I am in my field all day and night.

I got a pretty purple ribbon and mummy looked really please with me and gave me a big cuddle.

Scary Thunder and Lightning

While we were all waiting to play in a ring with other ponies there were some scary noises from the sky and flashing lights. I was so scared and so were lots of other ponies around me. Then lots and lots of water fell from the sky and there were even more crashes and scary lights.

Sparky was so brave and tried to keep me calm along with Mum, Dad and Sparky’s Mum Charlie. But it just got so scary that I couldn’t help but stand up on my back legs as I though those scary lights were going to hurt me. After a while I realized that it was going to be ok but it was sooooooooo scary.

Prizes – Second Place – Best Conditioned Horse/Pony at Grass

After a while all the noises, lights and water stopped and mum started getting me ready for more play times in a ring with more ponies. All the water had flattened my big fluffy hair which mummy seemed pleased about as she combed it all over onto one side.

I knew that mummy wanted me to be on best behaviour so I held my head high and did my best walk and trot in front of the ladies in the middle of the ring. There were lots of different colour, shape and size horses and ponies in the ring and they all looked very smart.

When I had done my best for the ladies watching me in the middle I was lined up in second place in front of lots and lots of other horses and ponies. This time I got a pretty blue Rosette, mummy got some money and we have qualified for the Royal London Show.

Mummy looked so pleased with me and had a big smile on her face. Apparently I was the 2nd best pony that lives in a field all the time.

Home Time

After all that excitement I was very tired so mummy decided that it was time for me to go home. I decided to let Sparky snooze on the way home so didn’t make hoofy music for him.

Sparky’s mum was very pleased with him today too as he managed to keep all his feet on the ground and decided not to give everyone a flying lesson like he did last time we went out together. He is even younger than me so gets really excited on days out but I really like Sparky; he is really nice to me (although he keeps trying to kiss me) and I am looking forward to our next day out together.
